Dinkytown Pedestrian Improvements (City of Mpls)

Location: East of I-35W Frontage Road and West of 15th Ave SE, to include the streets north of 4th Street SE to 8th Street SE.

Overview: This project aims to improve safety and accessibility for residents and visitors. We will replace over 50 curb ramps and improve safety at several intersections.

University Avenue NE (MnDOT)

Location: University Ave. NE between Central Ave./Hwy 65 and 27th Ave. N.E. in Minneapolis

Overview:

  • Repave University Ave. between Central Ave. and just south of 27th Ave. NE

  • Update sidewalks, intersections and crossings to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

  • Repair drainage

  • Other improvements to be developed during the project’s public engagement and design process

  • Remove guardrail

Location: Central Ave. N.E. from University Ave. S.E. in Minneapolis and I-694 in Columbia Heights

Overview:

  • Improve safety

  • Improve accessibility

  • Provide smoother road surface

  • Reduce congestion

  • Improve traffic flow

  • Extend pavement life

Location: University Ave. SE and Fourth St. SE between Central Ave. and the eastern I-35W frontage road in Minneapolis

Overview:

  • Improve drainage

  • Improve safety

  • Improve accessibility

  • Improve ADA, bike, and transit infrastructure

University and 4th Roadway Improvements (Hennepin County)

Location: University Avenue and Fourth Street SE between Oak Street and I-35W.

Overview:

  • New pavement on University Avenue and 4th Street 

  • Protected bike lanes on University Avenue and Fourth Street 

  • Upgraded intersections that meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements

  • Modernized traffic signals

  • Improved access to transit stops

E Line Bus Rapid Transit (Metro Transit)

Location: The METRO E Line will travel along 4th Street and University Avenue, through downtown Minneapolis and Uptown on Hennepin Avenue to Southdale Transit Center in Edina via 44th Street and France Avenue.

Overview: The METRO E Line is a planned bus rapid transit (BRT) line that will provide faster and more reliable transit in the Route 6 corridor. BRT service is a package of transit enhancements that adds up to a faster trip and an improved experience on Metro Transit’s busiest bus routes.

F Line Bus Rapid Transit (Metro Transit)

Location: Route 10 corridor between downtown Minneapolis and Northtown Transit Center along Nicollet Mall, Central Avenue, 53rd Avenue, and University Avenue.

Overview: The METRO F Line is a planned bus rapid transit (BRT) line that will provide faster and more reliable transit service in the Route 10 corridor. BRT is a package of transit enhancements that adds up to a faster trip and an improved experience on Metro Transit’s busiest bus routes.
